APL is currently utilising the Host Community Development Trust (HCDT) under the PIA regime to lay a solid foundation for massive infrastructural development in host communities. The Trust, unlike previous developmental programs under the non-obligatory CSR, is better funded by more than 200%. These improved funding and a better-structured program will improve the desperately needed infrastructure in the communities.

In line with Section 3 of the PIA, an awareness campaign has been created for all host and pipeline
communities. All APL communities have been delineated into six host community development
trusts, as follows:
1. Ikpoto Effiat HCDT in Akwa Ibom State (OML 123)
2. Royal Mbo HCDT in Akwa Ibom State (OML 123)
3. Izombe HCDT in Imo State (OML 124)
4. Njabaorsu HCDT in Imo State (OML 124)
5. OML 124 Pipeline HCDT (in Imo State (OML 124)
6. Owame Akaso HCDT in Rivers State (OML 126)

Inauguration of six Host Community Development Trusts by APL.

Amidst jubilation, APL inaugurated six trusts between May and June 2024. The communities expressed their profound gratitude to the Government, NNPLC, and APL. They unanimously agreed to cooperate with all stakeholders to ensure the implementation of HCDT proceeds without
hiccups.

During the event, the Managing Director of APL encouraged the communities to seize this unique opportunity, emphasising that, if properly utilised, the HCDT will catalyse initiatives that promote education, healthcare, economic empowerment, and infrastructural development within the communities.
